Press Release: New Society to Fight Myth that HIV Causes AIDS

Calgary, February 23, 1999 — The Alberta Reappraising AIDS Society (ARAS) has been formed to challenge the myth that HIV is the cause of AIDS, and to provide information to Albertans that will ensure that they realize that HIV tests are inaccurate, that AIDS is caused by exposure to toxic or immune–suppressive substances, and that anti–HIV drugs are extremely toxic, can cause AIDS, and may be fatal.

The society is particularly concerned that Alberta Health wants every pregnant woman tested for HIV. Testing a low–risk population such as this, will likely result in many false–positive HIV tests, that cannot be distinguished from true positives. The therapy prescribed for HIV (AZT), and the prohibition against nursing, will damage the health of every pregnant woman who is branded as HIV positive, as well as the health of her baby. Does anybody remember Thalidomide?

We strongly support the petition for a reevaluation of the linkage between HIV and AIDS, that is available for signatures. Among the many scientists who have signed are two Nobel Laureates.
